The Liturgy committee serves
the community by planning liturgies and encouraging people to use
their gifts to enhance our prayer and worship.
Responsibilities include:
1. Recruit, train and supervise Liturgical Ministers
2. Plan Liturgies and special services
3. Educate the community on Liturgical issues
4. Establish guidelines for parish prayer and for leaders of
liturgical prayer in accordance with the Diocesan Office of Worship
and Liturgical Documents
5. Assist the Arts and Environment Committee in planning the
Liturgical environment when necessary.
Arts and Environment Provides an attractive
environment during the seasons of the church year.
Eucharistic Bread Makers Are parishioners who bake
the Eucharistic Bread for the Masses.
Eucharistic Ministers Distribute Communion during
Mass and for the sick and shut-ins.
Music Ministry Is composed of organists, pianists,
various instrumentalists, cantors, and the choir. Musical is
provided at Masses and services to enhance worship.
Proclaimers They proclaim the Word during Masses.
Sacristans They prepare for the Mass, They also
assist the priest with special instructions and put items away after
the Mass.
Ushers They meet and greet people coming to church,
assist persons with special needs, hand out bulletins, and seat
visitors. Ushers also take the collection, set up chairs when
necessary, and organize the offertory procession.
Altar Servers They assist the priest during Masses and other
Liturgical Events. You must be going into fifth grade to volunteer.
Liturgy committee also sponsors other events to enrich parish life.
Eucharistic Adoration Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament is held
every Monday from 7:30 - 8:30 p.m. Benediction may occur if a priest
or deacon is available
Rosary Rosary is offered every Friday at 7:00 p.m. Twenty-five
parish families are prayer for each week during the Rosary.
Christian Formation and Education Committee:
The Christian Education and Formation Committee provides
opportunities for Parishioners to continue the lifelong process of
Christian growth. Parish School of Religion (PSR) is offered for
children. Junior High/Youth Ministry Programs are offered for our
older school aged children. Adults programs are also offered. Some
programs include the following:
Sacramental Preparation (children)
--Baptism - Parents meet with the pastor or deacon for preparation
before the child's reception of the sacrament.
--First Reconciliation - Parents attend 2 meetings and children
receive instruction prior to the reception of the sacrament during
the winter of the second grade.
--First Eucharist - Parents attend 2 meetings and children receive
instruction prior to the reception of the sacrament in the spring of
second grade.
--Confirmation - Parents and students attend 6 meetings and 4 with a
sponsor. Students receive instruction prior to receiving the
sacrament.
Parish School of Religion (PSR)
PSR provides religious education for children age 4 through 8th
grade on Sunday mornings at Uniontown Elementary School. Youth
Ministry meets Sunday mornings at Holy Spirit.
Youth Ministry
Youth Ministry meets Sunday mornings (at Holy Spirit) to help 9th to
12th grade students deepen their relationship with God and one
another. They are involved in Christ's mission through summer
mission trips, volunteering at local soup kitchens, retreats, Youth
Day Masses, conventions, and socials, Living Stations, and fund
raising.
Vacation Bible School (VBS)
This is a 4/5 day program in the summer for children from ages 4 to
11. Volunteers teach lessons, provide a craft, snack and music to
help our children become more familiar with Bible teachings.
Renew
A Parish based program to provide spiritual growth and development.
Small groups of Parishioners meet and discuss different themes.
Topics such as the Papal writings. strong families, and personal
spiritual growth are discussed in small faith sharing communities.
Rite of Christian Initiation for Adults (RCIA)
This program is the formal training for an individual who wants to
be welcomed and received into the Catholic church. Weekly meetings
with a team of trained leaders and sponsors guide prospective
candidates through instruction in the Catholic faith.
Christian Service and Outreach
Committee:
The Christian Service and Outreach Committee focuses Parishioners on
justice and charity issues through prayer, action, and education.
This committee touches base with subcommittees to provide help and
support, coordinate outreach efforts between subcommittees, monitors
and distributes tithe funds, and sponsors events to build awareness
in the Parish.
Fish: We work with the Hartville area Fish program
to assist the needy in our area.
Migrant Workers Ministry: We support the Hartville
Migrant Workers Ministry with our time, talents, and donations.
Volunteers from Holy Spirit Parish assist this area ministry and
some become members. Our parish involvement has been in areas such
as organizing activities with children, acting as interpreters for
the Hispanic community, painting and repairing the center, and
clothing drives.
Prayer Power Line: The prayer power line offers
prayer support. this committee is a confidential phoning network of
parishioners that pray for others upon request. Prayer requests are
passed down a phone list. The numbers to contact are published
weekly in the bulletin.
The Family Life Committee,
through programs of understanding, commitment, enrichment and
fellowship, nurtures growth within our individual families and our
larger parish family by celebrating the life of Christ within our
family bond.
Family Events such as Mardi Gras, Simple Suppers,
the Holy Thursday Pot Luck Dinner, The Parish Family Picnic , Annual
Spaghetti dinner, the Fall Harvest Meal, the Annual Christmas Craft
Auction and the Christmas Giving Tree are our organizational
responsibility.
Family Life also offers coffee, juice, and donuts after each Sunday
Mass, September through April.
The Administration Committee
members are concerned with parish resources, parish support, parish
planning, and the effective use and maintenance of parish
facilities. Three standing subcommittees meet regularly to provide
information, research and support.
Finance Committee, in conjunction with the parish
pastor, is accountable for the administrative aspects of parish
life. Responsibilities include preparation of the annual budget,
investment decisions, administration of leases and insurance
programs. The finance committee reviews the parish collections and
monthly expenses, presenting this data to Parish Council with
recommendations.
Long Range Planning Committee provides systematic
planning for the future of the Parish and its Parishioners. This
planning includes organization, staffing, and physical facilities.
The Long Range Planning needs people to assess the future, set
targets, and evaluate ways to achieve those targets to help the
Parish accomplish its Mission. Planning is required to efficiently
utilize the resources of Holy Spirit Parishioners -- namely time,
talent, and money.
Buildings and Grounds Committee is responsible for
the maintenance and improvement of the physical facilities
(buildings and grounds) of the Parish. The major responsibilities
are: 1. Advise and recommend to the staff and Parish Council,
projects to improve the quality of life at Holy Spirit. 2. Submit an
annual budget to the Finance Committee before June 1. 3. Plan and
execute improvement projects within approved budget guidelines. 4.
Assemble work crews consisting of parish volunteers to execute
specific projects. 5. Define the scope of work for outside
contractors. 6. Manage projects to maintain quality of work,
schedule, and budget goals, and 7. Act on Parishioners requests and
report to Parish Council.
