Thank you for your interest in the participating in a mission trip next summer. It is a week to work hard and play hard. Please read over this information about Holy Spirit’s program.

Overview

Christian Appalachian Project - Martin, KY

On the week in Kentucky, our group works with Christian Appalachian Project (CAP) to improve the living conditions of those living in rural poverty. Our group is split into project teams to work alongside CAP personnel on project sites. We stay and eat at a CAP facility, the Foley Mission Center. Bunk bed style sleeping arrangements with separate rooms for male, female, youth, and adult, as well as restroom facilities.


Our program also includes a few meetings and fundraisers, etc. to prepare for the trips.

Steps to Register

Holy Spirit Registration

Registration is open to those (teens & adults) in 8th grade or above who will be 14 years old by the time of the trips. We will be partnering with groups from other parishes so we must identify those who will comprise our group ASAP. Staff must approve the list of all participants.

Stewardship

All participants contribute to the cost of the trips.

$100.00 due at the time of registration                 

$80.00 due by April 1


Notes:

If you register then drop out you are responsible for the entire cost of the trip.


Checks are to be made payable to Holy Spirit Youth Ministry. An online payment option is now available.


 All fees are non-refundable unless an exception is made by the Holy Spirit Mission team and/or staff.


These fees cover only a portion of the entire cost of the experience. The difference is subsidized by the parish and/or fundraised. 

The inability to pay should not deter anyone from going. Please contact Diocesan Pastoral Associate to discuss the many options available.


(If a registrant is not a registered member of Holy Spirit Parish, a fee rate and schedule will be agreed upon and signed by the participant, the participant’s parents/guardian, if applicable, and the Diocesan Pastoral Associate. Contact the Diocesan Pastoral Associate for more information.)

CAP Registration

After registering with the parish, you will have to register online with Christian Appalachian Project (CAP). Please complete your CAP registration now.

Final Forms

Please fill out the appropriate forms and return to Anne Weeks. If you need a copy, contact Anne.


All adults must complete Sections I and IV of the VOLUNTEER DRIVER FORM - attaching a copy of your driver's license. Those whose vehicles are being driven must also complete Sections II and III - attaching the declarations page of your auto insurance policy, listing you as insured.

Preparing for the Trip
What to Bring

Also bring the following:

  • Identification
  • Money (lunch on way home, drinks & snacks throughout week)
  • Bible (or use one on your phone)
  • Playing cards/games



Expectations

Everyone going on the trip needs to review and sign this list of expectations. If you are a youth, a parent must also sign.

Each evening ends with a time for reflection. You have the opportunity to lead the reflection on one of the evenings. This is a sample outline.
