Liturgy & Music
Liturgical Ministry
The Liturgy committee serves the community by planning liturgies and encouraging people to use their gifts to enhance our prayer and worship. We
- Recruit, train and supervise Liturgical Ministers
- Plan Liturgies and special services
- Educate the community on Liturgical issues
- Establish guidelines for parish prayer and for leaders of liturgical prayer in accordance with the Diocesan Office of Worship and Liturgical Documents
- Assist the Arts and Environment Committee in planning the Liturgical environment when necessary.
What Do We Do?
- Arts and Environment - Provides an attractive environment during the seasons of the church year.
- Eucharistic Ministers - Distribute Communion during Mass and for the sick and shut-ins.
- Proclaimers - Proclaim the Word during Masses.
- Sacristans -Prepare for the Mass, assist the priest with special instructions and put items away after the Mass.
- Ushers - Assist persons with special needs, hand out bulletins, and seat visitors. Ushers also take the collection, set up chairs when necessary, and organize the offertory procession.
- Greeters - Meet and greet people coming into the church
- Altar Servers - Assist the priest during Mass and other Liturgical Events. Servers must be going into fourth grade to volunteer.
Music Ministry
Music Ministry is composed of organists, pianists, various instrumentalists, cantors, and the choir. Music is provided at Masses and services to enhance worship.
Choir Our choir is a fun and caring group of singers who share their faith as they sing their praise to the Lord and we would love to have you join us! You do not need to know how to read music. We are not asking you to be a soloist, just come, sing, and enjoy! We rehearse on Thursday evenings in the church and sing at the 9:30am Mass once a month. If you have any questions, contact the Choir Director at the parish office.
Cantors. If you enjoy singing, we encourage you to consider becoming a cantor (the song leader at Mass). We will work with and train those who are interested in this important ministry. Call the parish office for details.
Instrumentalists
Do you play an instrument? Instrumentalists accompany our other musicians to nurture our faith during liturgy and other prayer services. If you are interested in sharing your talents in this way, please see the pianist or call the parish office.
To find out how to get involved in one of these ministries, contact the parish office.
